Seniors

I am committed to treating and maximizing senior’s independence and health outcomes. With a history of treating seniors in hospitals, nursing homes and in my office for medical/disability evaluations, I have a long history of respecting seniors dignity, autonomy and longevity to direct their own lives and reclaim their physical and psychological health. Seniors are wise about their minds/bodies having lived with them a long time. Therefore, I use a collaborative approach with my senior patients to empower and advocate for themselves and their health, drawing from their vast array of experiences and skills.

As a medical psychologist, I have the training and the time, as compared to a typical physician's visit, to help seniors understand health and lifestyle challenges and craft workable solutions. As a medical psychologist with integrative health training and experience, I am knowledgeable with most medical diagnoses and understand the confluence of these illnesses on lifestyle. In contrast, I treat many healthy seniors for the same problems as their younger counterparts, i.e., anxiety, depression, loss, trauma or cognitive changes, which can often be remediated fairly quickly given their vast understanding of life and acceptance of change. When beneficial, I am comfortable collaborating with the patient’s physician regarding medications, procedures and treatment.
